Ready to send a few extra eggs out the door to loc Ready to send a few extra eggs out the door to locals and I’m so excited!
.
When I was 13 I went vegan because having started vegetarian I realised the egg and dairy industries were filled with a lot of the things I didn’t want from the meat industry.
.
Bringing our egg production close to home means I really know what’s happening to our girls, what they’re eating, how much space they have. It means I can treat mites (cos those things happen 🙄) with completely natural ingredients - which is a lot more work but how I wanted our coop to run.
.
It means our girls can stay with us till the end even when their laying rate falls, and hopefully one day I can breed our own chicks to solve that piece of the puzzle but one step at a time.
.
And now we have a few extra dozen each week if you’re local and want some - in recycled paper boxes. 😉 Message me if you want some or a delivery!
WANT TO SEE THIS WEEK’S MEAL PLAN 🛒 . Swipe t WANT TO SEE THIS WEEK’S MEAL PLAN 🛒
.
Swipe to see what we planned for what we bought. I always start by looking at what’s left before shopping so I don’t over buy and go off budget and we had lots of leftover dry goods, some veg, and chili in the freezer so we didn’t need so much this week!
.
I’ll add a block of 🧀 and an extra 🥛 + 🧈 but otherwise this is us for the week. // £38 from @abelandcole // £16 from @hisbe_food // £8 from @freshmilkandmore // £1 chips from M+S - Jared’s for nachos! Usually we only get @twofarmerscrisps // £8.50 Waitrose ➡️ so about £72.50 for the four of us for the week (plus flour we have in bulk and one meal my mum made)! #twfdgroceryhaul
Quick snap after crawling back to bed with coffee Quick snap after crawling back to bed with coffee to “work”... 😆 Sundays are when I put on most of my hours with Beautycounter and I’m over on @whole.beauty to help anyone, so I thought I’d let you in to that world here and why I do it!
.
3 years ago I was OVERWHELMED knowing I wanted to be better with what I put on my skin (better than: dish soap 🙋🏻‍♀️) but how do you choose? Ingredients, sourcing, ethics, environment, shade range, quality... how the heck do you choose the “right” products?!
.
I had to realise there was no “right” but a journey that’s very individual. We just take steps forward.
.
I searched through tons of companies and found a female founded CA based B Corp that combined more of my needs and wants than anything else. It had a direct sales side which I kind of hated because I like to help people with my choices and I thought that part might stop people benefiting from my endless hours of research 😆. But I put that aside and listened, read, researched and tried their products as they seemed the best combo for me: much safer ingredients, sourced carefully, ethics in production like sourcing Ecocert vanilla only from women owned coops, and visiting every mica mine to be sure of the labour practices. But also fighting for the people who couldn’t make the choices I was making - pushing to bring change to laws so it’s not just people with more money or options who can make these choices. I’m ALL about that. So I dived in. And as with any product I use, if it has an affiliate program, I join cos those support this space! So I joined them.
.
I said I’d only ever do it my way. If it ever didn’t feel like me, I was OUT. And 2.5 years later I’m still here, I’ve been able to help 100s of you NOT feel overwhelmed like I did, pay forward my commission to help you and to charities, and somehow that’s landed me as one of their top affiliates - And I LOVE how that let’s me give more. I now lead a team of 160+ people who work with BC as a consultant like I do and I LOVE getting to lead them in doing in a way I believe in + trust: Showing up to SERVE.
.
There’s more (and a giveaway) over at @whole.beauty and I’m here for you always!
What’s your go to brew? ☕️ . Right now I st What’s your go to brew? ☕️
.
Right now I stick to under 200mg caffeine a day but pregnant or not I want to make sure my coffee is doing good for me, people, and planet as with anything I bring into our home.
.
There’s a chat on the blog (thewholefooddiary.com) about the factors we consider in buying tea + coffee, and the “plastic” tea bag issue - there are lots of things to think about and remember there’s no “perfect” solution. It’s a journey and one of those things where the lowest impact option would highly likely be not to drink it... but 😏 if we are going to brew a cuppa, let’s make it be with the best impact we can!
